The School of Medicine's Russell D. and Mary B. Shelden Clinical Simulation Center
opened May 12, 2008. This state-of-the-art facility devotes over 10,000
square feet to a broad range of simulation technologies, from standardized patients
in the clinical setting to fully simulated operating rooms. Several medical mannequins
are used in the center allowing fellows, residents and medical students to practice
a wide range of procedures including rare procedures not common to the medical setting.
The simulation center is now one of the 27 world wide testing centers for the fundamentals
of Laparoscopic Surgery program.
